GUP to hold two paddle events in July

Ground UP Adventures is hosting two paddling events in mid-July.

The first event is an introduction to kayak paddling skills, open to all ages.  This course starts at 3pm on Saturday, July 16 at the Boathouse in Lincoln Drive Park in Grand Forks, ND. The cost is $10 for boat rental, and $5 for adults--speaking to GUP's mission to get young people outdoors and active, instruction for youth under 18 is FREE! (But they need to rent a boat and be accompanied by an adult.)  We can take a total of 14 paddlers for this 90 minute course.

The second event is YOUTH-ONLY, open to ages 10-17, and is a 3-hour float trip down the Red Lake River just south of East Grand Forks, MN.  We'll meet at the Boathouse in Lincoln Drive Park in Grand Forks, ND at 1pm on Sunday, July 17 to get set up, and then we will drive together to the river put-in and start paddling around 2pm.  Parents/guardians will need to provide transportation to the river put-in, and pick up their kids at the take-out (the motor boat ramp near the Zavoral Park entrance off the Point Bridge).  We expect to paddle from approximately 2pm-5pm.  Participants will have the option to try all four styles of GUP craft--canoes, single kayaks, double kayaks, and stand-up paddleboards. Participants will learn basic paddling skills for all craft, and river safety.  The trip will include a drink and snack.  Cost is $30 per participant.  We can take a total of 18 paddlers for this course.

Reserve your spot for both events by emailing the names and ages of participants to paddle@groundupadventures.com.  Payment and Waivers will be made at the Boathouse at the start of the events.
