Name Hometown About Me
Matt Burton-Kelly Grand Forks, ND

I moved to Grand Forks from Vermont in 2006 (in January!) and immediately started looking for things to do (any sort of racing) rather than watch (hockey). I ended up volunteering for the first END-AR in 2007, met up with the newly reconstituted UND Cycling Club in 2008, finished my M.S. in geology and am now progressing toward my Ph.D., all while trying to fit in time to train.

I'm currently webmaster for the GroundUP website as well as for a new regional athletic calendar, Northern Plains Athletics.

Alison Finstad Sioux Falls, SD

Alison is a native of Sioux Falls, SD and has lived in Grand Forks since 2005 when she started grad school. After finishing grad school in 2009, Alison got a job as an assistant professor in the psychology department at UND.

Alison was first introduced to the END Racing crew in 2007 when she volunteered for the first END-AR. After seeing how awesome adventure racing looked from the sidelines, she competed in the next END-AR and has been hooked ever since.

Jason Schaefer Grand Forks

I enjoy being outdoors and being active. Adventure racing makes me feel like a kid! That's one of my favorite things about it.

The more time we spend connecting to the place we call home, the more apt we are to take care of it and the more joy we get out of being here.

Getting involved with Ground-Up's projects is a great way to connect with this place -- all while having a blast and being part of an amazing community (and oftentimes, getting a little muddy!).
