Family Fun Night a drenching success!

It may have been less than ideal weather for some of the other folks at family fun night, but being adventurers, we at GUP weren't to be daunted.  Over 20 groups made their way over to our booth to try their luck at slack-lining and then head out on our 6 point orienteering course.  They braved almost constant rain and a littlebit of mud as they made their way through the course on foot to the check points, some of which required a bit of adventurous bushwhacking.  It was awesome to see the spirit these folks had, some of the searching the environs of Lincoln park for nearly two hours in an effort to find all of the checkpoints.  Determined teams were out on the course until well after 8 pm, long after the rest of the activities had been shut down (an hour early!).  It just serves as proof for what we've always suspected - adventurers have greater staying power!

We had so much fun at the event that we plan to have a similar presence at the final Parks District celebration of the summer - Down by the Riverside, in Riverside park on August 18th.  We'll have two courses up for this event: a 'short course' tailored for the budding (younger) adventurers, and a 'full course' which is a bit more challenging for those of you ready for anything--so make sure to come find us and get a little solitude in the park after enjoying the throngs by the pool.
And if you were one of the folks out with us at Lincoln park we'd love to hear your feedback, get your comments, and share your photos!  Just email us!

Special thanks to the Ski and Bike shop for donating the compasses and Northern Heights rock gym for the free climbing passes for participants!
